Thermafrax is a unique technology using Fractional Radiofrequency Microneedling. It delivers energy to the deep dermis and/or fat at the point of penetration with specially designed 24 carat gold plated microneedles. Thermafrax is specifically indicated in the treatment of tightening and lifting the skin to treat sagginess and wrinkles. It can also resurface the skin to treat large pores, hollow or bags under the eyes, stretch marks, redness/flushing/capillaries, acne and scarring. Thermafrax is a fantastic treatment for removing cellulite and fat deposits as well.
Fractional Radiofrequency Microneedling causes selective heating in the deep dermis leaving coloums of tissue between undamaged. As it delivers energy deep into the dermis and does not heat up the epidermis, greater levels of energy can be delivered to the target area at the point of insertion of the microneedles avoiding damage (burning or hyperpigmentation). This creates shortening and tightening of the collagen fibers and reconstruction of new collagen by the stimulation of fibroblasts. Thermafrax is different from laser as electroenergy is transformed into thermal energy. This energy transfers from the needle point to cause coagulation and denaturalization of the surrounding dermis. RF energy from Thermafrax can denature cells, destroying the cause of acne, acne bacteria and sebaceous glands.
A topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated to make the procedure more comfortable. A brand new tip with 24 carat gold needles is applied to the device. The device is then applied to the surface of the skin releasing the needles and delivering Radiofrequency energy in short bursts as the head is moved across the area to be treated. Immediately after the treatment the treated area will appear slightly red.
The interval between Thermafrax treatments is anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months. The interval level is flexible. It is possible to achieve positive results with only 1 treatment. However 3-6 treatments will be more effective, depending on the condition of the skin.
